Vendor Spotlight of the Week - Ballantyne Hotel

Emily Brandewie has been a Catering Sales Manager for The Ballantyne for four years. She, along with the dedicated team at the venue, strive to make the guest’s experience one that is unforgettable. “We do it all here at Ballantyne!” Emily says. “Whether it is a corporate event, team building, rehearsal dinner, glow-in-the-dark night putting, or wedding weekend, our team is ready to exceed expectations!”

Since opening in 2001, Ballantyne Hotel boasts 199 rooms in the main hotel, a 35 bedroom mountain-inspired Lodge, and a 4 bedroom private Cottage. The property offers an 18-hole public golf course, full-service spa, award-winning restaurant and 22,000 sq ft of event space. Emily gave us the sneak peek on some upcoming renovations happening this summer and, let me tell you, it’s not something you want to miss. The expected completion date is mid-September, and we cannot wait to see it all!

As part of her career in hospitality, Emily has worked in several different cities. To no surprise, Charlotte is her favorite because of the unique intimacy of the event industry. “Planners refer other planners; rental companies collaborate, and ideas flow openly among all vendors. The event professionals in Charlotte truly embody the culture of community over competition”. As part of that community, Emily is currently serving as Hospitality Chair for the Charlotte Chapter of the National Association of Catering & Events (NACE) and recently attended their leadership conference in New Orleans.

Of all the events planned and sold over the years, Emily shared one of her personal favorites with us--her first South Asian Wedding client. “The family was generous with their patience and explanation of cultural expectations. They provided me the opportunity to learn about the unique traditions involved in their daughter’s wedding weekend. It was incredible to play a role in making their vision come to life,” Emily said. From the extravagant ceiling draping and extensive décor to the festive outdoor baraat, every detail was precisely planned. When Emily received the photos after the event, she couldn’t wait to submit this wedding to a national blog. Turns out, the publisher agreed, and the wedding was shared the following month! “Our team pulled off a flawless weekend, and I couldn’t have been more proud to be a part of their team,” Emily said. The employees at The Ballantyne employ constant focus on customer service using positive attitudes and years of experience. “The heart of the hotel is truly our people,” Emily shared, “and our warm hospitality is what sets us apart.”

“As part of our mission to deliver an exceptional event, we only recommend vendors that share our high service standards, “Emily said. “We strive to maintain relationships with vendors that deliver excellent service, consistent quality and dependability. “To us, Ballantyne Hotel is a Charlotte landmark. The entire experience they offer is unmatched, and we do not take being a preferred vendor of theirs for granted. We know when a client comes referred from their team, it is going to be a top notch event from beginning to end. SSS appreciates, respects and admires Emily and the entire Ballantyne team for all they do. Year after year, our work relationship with them continues to grow and remain enjoyable. From our SSS crew to yours, thank you!

Vendor Spotlight of the Week - Henry Connor Bost House

Henry Connor Bost House is a property that once visited, nothing compares. Located only 6 miles from Salisbury and built in 1869, Henry Connor Bost House has been a family owned property since 1961, which they used as a vacation home. In 1993, the property was carefully renovated by Dr. and Mrs. Donald Lomax in order to move to the farm permanently, but the original heart pine floors, original woodwork, brickwork, and even some original glass in the windows still remain. With one parent deceased and the other in assisted living, Laurie, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lomax, decided to turn it into a venue about 2.5 years ago, which she partially manages along with her brothers and sisters. With 135 acres of land, this fully renovated land is private and protected by the Land Trust of Central NC, so the land can never be developed which allows it to always be a historic farm. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Henry Connor was an officer in the civil war,...
