Split Second Sound is now in Asheville NC Full-Time with Chris Bower!

It has happened! Split Second Sound has officially also expanded to Asheville NC full time while still holdin' it down in The Queen City, Charlotte NC! Two cities, same incredible product, and even more unforgettable parties!!

Being a part of many weddings in the beautiful city of Asheville as well as providing entertainment for many members of the Biltmore family members’ weddings, expanding to this city has always been a goal of Split Second Sound’s. We are firm believers that in order to bring a dream to life, it takes the right people and best support system. Our Charlotte office runs like a well-oiled machine, and our DJs here are unmatched. We wanted that same dedication, organization, and of course fun for our next city and found that when Chris Bower came along.

Chris is originally from Florida but moved to Asheville in early 2018. After getting to know his extensive DJ background, his loving family, and his drive to make a difference with his work, we knew he was the one to be our representative in our newest city! He worked MULTIPLE events as a DJ Assistant to see firsthand what we mean by “the Split Second Sound way”. He went through MULTIPLE training sessions and even spent time in our Charlotte office to experience all that it takes. As one of our newest Lead MC/DJs, he will be the SSS face in Asheville!

Chris comes to us from a very strong customer service background and has been a part of almost every facet of the wedding process from planning, décor, videography, photography, photobooth, and linens. Having this level of knowledge has helped him diversify and stay on top of the trends.

He started in 2011 as a wedding videographer and worked very closely with some of the best DJs in Florida. After two years of doing video, he started to transition into DJing. He worked private events for the first year and over the past four years, he has primarily focused on weddings and corporate events. He has DJ’d over 400 events in the past five years!

The wedding DJ is the visual and vocal representative of the couple. Even if there is a wedding planner, we are on the first line when it comes to keeping everything flowing seamlessly during the event. The words “that’s not my job” are not in our vocabulary, and Chris is no exception to that. Catering to clients as much as possible is always our goal. Chris says, “You might see me running water to the couple when they are getting photos after ceremony or even bringing them a plate of food during dinner if they do not want to stand in the buffet line. I also believe that the best wedding DJs should know every aspect of what happens on the wedding day down to the finest detail.” As a vocal representative, Chris believes it is also his job to be engaging and bring excitement at the right times without overdoing it and to be informative at the right times so everyone is aware of things that are happening or about to happen. You all can see why he is a great fit for SSS, right? :)

On a scale of 1 to 10 for lucky, Chris would consider himself off the charts at 15. “I couldn’t possibly be happier. I have my soulmate and a family that I did not think was possible almost 10 years ago. I have the perfect job, and I live in paradise. I have been very fortunate in my life. Even though some things could have been better, I would not change a single thing. I am exactly where I should be,” Chris says.

If Chris were to win the lottery tomorrow, the very first thing he would do is split up a major portion of the money with a number of family members. His first actual purchase would be his dream home of a 2500 square foot log cabin with a mountain view. “I want to retire in the mountains and see the beautiful peaks when I wake up in the morning. I do not think there is anything more peaceful than that on Earth,” Chris says. Asheville is the perfect new home for him!

As a former business owner of seven years himself, Chris believes in three core values: 1) Always provide the best possible experience for clients 2) Never pass up an opportunity that presents itself and 3) Always learn and strive to improve yourself. He believes in never being satisfied with what you know right now, always strive to do more than what it expected, and doors will always open themselves up, so never close them right away.

Chris gives each of his weddings a personal touch, so each client gets exactly what they want. He truly loves being an entertainer and being a part of the happiest days of people’s lives. If he can continue to help create amazing memories, then he never wants to give up on what he loves doing. His favorite part of being with SSS so far is being a part of something much bigger than himself. Chris says, “The SSS brand is very special, and I am honored that I was chosen to be a part of this incredible team.”

He looks forward to seeing how far he can grow as a professional with the backing that he has never had in the past and seeing how much he can “help SSS to become the biggest and best DJ company in America”. We think expanding into Asheville full time with his help is a great start to that!

All SSS DJs are available for events in Asheville as well as Charlotte and other cities. Chris Bower will be our representative located in Asheville though to bring the same face-to-face time and in-person consultations that we offer in The Queen City.

So, what is the next big thing coming from Split Second Sound on top of this major expansion? Stay tuned to find out! After all...

"It’s not just about providing entertainment – It’s about creating it!!!"

Time for this or that with Chris!

Pepsi or Coke?
Whichever one keeps me energized!

Chocolate or Vanilla?
I am a chocolate guy. Give me a Reese’s peanut butter cup blizzard with chocolate ice cream and I am a very happy boy.

Mountains or Beach?
Mountains any day. I spent 20 years near the beach and I will be happy if I never have to see one again.

Cook or Eat Out?
That is a bit of a dilemma. I do not like to cook, and I do not like to overspend at a restaurant. Thankfully I have the most amazing wife on Earth that loves to cook for me!

Burgers or Hot Dogs?
Why not both?!

NSYNC or Backstreet Boys?
I will play either if that is what the client wants!

On to “Favorites”!

TV Show?
Growing up it was X-Files but currently it is Supernatural. As you can tell, I like paranormal shows!

Favorite Movie?
I actually have a trio of favorite movies – The Matrix, Braveheart, and Forrest Gump

Favorite 80s jam?
“Tricky” from Run DMC but that is a difficult choice because there are so many great songs from the 80s!

Favorite 90s jam?
My all-time favorite song is called “Passing My By” by Pharcyde, but I love listening to songs like “This is How We Do It” or “Hey Ya” by Outkast. I love to listen to the 90s hip hop station also!

DJ Feature - Chris Pounds

While all of SSS MC/DJs are exclusive, Chris Pounds is also our full-time DJ, so we are sure you have seen his face around at many of our events! When first moving to Charlotte, he DJ’d at the same club every Friday for 3 months knowing every song that would be played after the next, after the next. That situation was not allowing Chris to take his craft to the next limit, which led him to inquiring with Split Second. Although his mixing was top notch, he still completed our training process to learn how to run a wedding, master his coordination & interaction, and truly learn the SSS way and understand the SSS brand. Chris’ love for spinning started at a gymnasium party 30 years ago. He saw a friend on the turntables, began learning the fundamentals of spinning & creating music, and started his official DJ career in his early 20s. He puts high emphasis on himself on how to not just get guests on the dance floor, but keep them there all night. He pushes himself to entertain by
