Prior to joining SSS, Ron working in the television business straight out of college for 5 years, 3 of those being in Allentown PA and 2 being here in Charlotte NC for Channel 9 WSOC-TV as a photographer, editor, and live truck operator. It was a very cool experience that led him to meet some interesting people including Richard Petty, Elizabeth Dole, John Kasich, Greg Biffle, many city Mayors, US Senators, and more. Ron left the TV world to transition into the business world as a manager at companies like Enterprise Rent-a-Car and Mattress Firm. He wanted to get out of the sales world and back into an office entertainment. Vinny Esposito was looking for an Account Manager, which is exactly what Ron was looking for.
On a scale of 1 to 10 on the “Blessed Scale” Ron considers himself a 8 thanks to his family, friends, home, and job. He says, “In order to be a 10, I would have to have Steelers season tickets!” He is kind of a big Steelers fan if you could not tell…. Most would assume if Ron could pick any celebrity to meet, dead or alive, that it would be a Steelers player, but he would say it would have to be Chris Farley. He thinks he is one of the funniest people he has ever watched and thinks it would have been a blast to hang out with him.
Parents play a vital role in the personality and work ethic of any person, and Ron is no exception. Ron always looked up to his dad the most in his life saying he was the hardest working person he has ever known and was his hero growing up. He played football, basketball, and baseball - So did Ron. He was in Boy Scouts - So was Ron. He was in the band - So was Ron. He worked in a Steel Mill - Well, Ron worked on a golf course, but you get the point! He was taught the value of hard work whether it was a job, home or sport, he was taught loyalty to your family and friends, and was taught to never give up no matter what challenges you face. Ron says, “He taught me how to be a man, not only by his words, but more by his actions.”
On the weekends, you can find Ron spending time with his wife Laura and son Jacob. Aside from family, Ron can be found on the golf course, camping in the mountains, traveling, or spending time with friends.
What is Ron’s favorite memory thus far with SSS? “The first Vendor Appreciation Party I attended that we put on was amazing! To watch the hard work and attention to detail that went into the party and see it come to fruition was awesome and a great feeling to be a part of something that big and fun!” he says. He even participated in a dance off for best costume at that party! For Ron, hard work is a body of work. It is not just producing number, which he jokes is probably why he does not do the sales. “If I am working hard, it not only means I am getting my job done, but I am also helping others in getting theirs done as well,” Ron says. These qualities help create a positive work environment where we are all accomplishing our goals.
Ron believes that SSS is a top contender in the wedding industry due to the reputation that Vinny and Diane have built. He says that reliability, quality, and consistency are what keeps us at the top of people’s lists. A positive office experience is something SSS always strives for. Ron says, “We work very hard to make it a fun experience for our clients when they come in. We want to make it worth their while for them taking the time to come in and meet with us. Even if they do not book with us, they walked away with more knowledge than before they came in.” We are in the business of providing fun, so it is our job to get them excited about the biggest day of their lives!
Whether he is writing a record breaking number of contracts, quizzing the office staff on what movie every single song on the radio is from, or taking a break from work to brag on the Steelers and talk smack on the Patriots, Split Second Sound just would not be the same without Ron. Thanks for all you do!
