Vendor Spotlight of the Week - Lisa Pleasant Events

Split Second Sound has had the opportunity to work alongside some incredible individuals over the years and one of our favorites has to be Lisa Pleasant of Lisa Pleasant Events. Her story is not the typical “just love planning weddings” story. She went to school for Economics, Spanish, and Mathematical Finance and started working on the back end of an algorithmic trading firm after school. Very soon after, she took over a club promotions company that fell into her lap where her natural bubbly personality was showcased, but her true calling came when her brother got engaged. When he asked for her help, she fully dove into the task and loved the challenge and decided to start her own company shortly after.

Her love for being a planner starts with the logistics that come with planning as she is a self-proclaimed “math nerd.” Spreadsheets, floor plans, organization, and pulling all of it together are her strengths and make up her passion for what she does. Her math skills on top of being a people person have made this the perfect job for Lisa over the past 7+ years.

When she is not making dreams come true, she loves to travel, strongly preferring backpacking and adventures to the 5-star hotels. Guatemala is by far her favorite place of any she has traveled. She backpacked there for 7 weeks, staying with a local family, eating the local foods, and exploring something new each weekend. Next on the radar for her is India as she is obsessed with Indian culture.

All the full planning is done by Lisa herself from start to finish, but her wonderful team Ande, Nina, and Ashley take on their own events with partial planning. Partial planning through this company includes a very long consultation to discuss logistics, timelines, vendors, floor plans, setup, design, etc. as soon as you book with Lisa. Roughly 75% of the wedding is planned in this meeting alone. This team sends their couples to the right vendors based on needs & style and finalizes all details and then again takes over for the last couple of months before the event. Full planning through Lisa includes website creation, budget management, payment reminders, hotel blocks, contracts, and everything else that the couples do not want to mess with on the back end. The fun parts of planning are all that her clients see!

Why hire a wedding planner? Lisa looks at it as you would not go to buy a house without having a realtor. Going in blind to something you have never done before keeps you from knowing the rules, tricks of the trade, and etiquette. By hiring a planner, you get an insight into the industry you would not have by doing it along, and you enormously reduce stress up front. What is one of the things that separates Lisa from the rest? She truly enjoys having fun with her couples and she becomes really good friends with the bride by the end of the planning. She is not one to be in a business suit standing in the corner barking orders. She is a team with every vendor she works with, a friend to the bride and groom, and she blends right in with every guest and wedding party while holding all of it together. She has also been told by brides that she is usually the fastest to respond to emails or text messages, which speaks to her natural night owl demeanor and her early mornings. Wedding planning can be stressful, but Lisa and her team believe in making it fun in every aspect!
