DJ Feature - Giovanni Dario

He subtly rocks any party with his cool demeanor, and his mixing abilities speak volumes. Giovanni Dario has been with SSS for about 3 years now, and it all started when his mom hired us for her 25th year anniversary party. Gio tagged along with his mom to meet with Levar at our office for her in-person consultation. He has always had a love for music, so when Vinny mentioned SSS was hiring while he was there, it was a no brainer for Gio to apply. The very next day he called Vinny and said, “When can I schedule an interview?” Gio was an instant match with our team and actually shadowed Vinny at the Charlotte City Club for his first gig. He remembers between the music, the dance party, and the uplights that everything was “so cool”.

Giovanni is recently engaged to his fiance Holly, so guess who his chosen DJ company is for his own big day! From the second they solidified the date, Gio was sure to lock in DJ Charlie, as well as our Client Concierge Service. We wonder if he’ll be able to stay away from the mixing board on his own wedding day, but we will be sure to make it a night he’ll never forget and can truly enjoy!

Split Second Sound likes to have a mixture of DJs whether music style, bilingual, or nationality. Gio is one of our Spanish speaking DJs as his mother is from Guadalajara and his father is from Toluca. Gio himself? Raised in sunny Los Angeles!

For Gio, it is the challenge that makes him continuously grow within our company. He views every wedding as a new challenge and takes it head on. He truly loves everything the client brings to the table with their decor, styles of music, and organization. Between his love for music and being a part of someone’s big day, it keeps Gio going.

Gio’s personality makes him stand out as a DJ. The way he goes about the music, getting people to reminisce on when they were in school and making them go back to those golden days, it allows him to not just focus on “the new stuff”.

What is hard work to Gio? Taking the initiative to do something. He believes in not waiting until someone tells him to do so saying “when I do something, I am going to do it right the first time and not multiple times”. We strongly believe being a hard worker starts with how you are raised, and Gio is the perfect example of that. Gio’s father is the hardest working man he knows and says it does not matter if he is working or has the day off, he is always doing a project and never says no to anything he asks for help with. We can see those exact same traits in Giovanni!

Loyalty, ethics, and hard work are the top three core values to Gio, and he always tries to remain positive. He is a quiet personality that breaks out of his shell on event day giving it his all every single time. When asked what his favorite part of his current job with SSS is, Gio said “the food….just kidding!” It is seeing the couple’s faces during the party and the emotions that go into it all whether for toasts or special dances that pushes Gio to take in every song they request and not go into every wedding with the same material.

The growth and success of Split Second over the few years Gio has been with us makes him excited to see where we continue to go. He says, “Seeing what our next venture might be whether remaining number one in Charlotte or expanding to other areas, I’m ready for it!” We could not be happier to have you a part of our team, Gio!

Vendor Spotlight of the Week - Henry Connor Bost House

Henry Connor Bost House is a property that once visited, nothing compares. Located only 6 miles from Salisbury and built in 1869, Henry Connor Bost House has been a family owned property since 1961, which they used as a vacation home. In 1993, the property was carefully renovated by Dr. and Mrs. Donald Lomax in order to move to the farm permanently, but the original heart pine floors, original woodwork, brickwork, and even some original glass in the windows still remain. With one parent deceased and the other in assisted living, Laurie, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lomax, decided to turn it into a venue about 2.5 years ago, which she partially manages along with her brothers and sisters. With 135 acres of land, this fully renovated land is private and protected by the Land Trust of Central NC, so the land can never be developed which allows it to always be a historic farm. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Henry Connor was an officer in the civil war,...
