Vendor Spotlight of the Week - Jackie Fogartie Events

As a full-time wedding planner, you can be hit with anything and everything to make a bride’s day absolutely perfect. Many women dream of becoming a wedding planner without knowing it is more than all the glitz and glam. It takes a strong personality, a calming demeanor, and organizational skills that go above & beyond - That is Jackie Fogartie through and through. Jackie is the owner of her own company “Jackie Fogartie Events” and has been a planner in Charlotte for seven years now.

Jackie had actually always dreamed of being a lawyer. Her first job after college was a paralegal but her first year in law, she realized she did not want to pursue that field. She got engaged and used a wedding planner to assist her - Soon realizing that wedding planning was really a career. She began booking small events never thinking she would be a full-time wedding planner. When someone of her talent comes along in this industry, the natural skills take over and now she is one of the top planners in Charlotte!

She says owning your own business means sometimes it does become your life, but when she gets time to relax she enjoys going to dinner & trying new restaurants, hanging with her hubby, cooking, and going to Panther’s games (which we obviously fully support!) One of her favorite parts of being in this industry is getting to know her clients’ stories and building relationships for a lifetime.

Jackie Fogartie Events offers full planning services including design and execution of the day from start to finish. She does offer partial planning & month of coordination as well. She prides herself on customizing her planning packages for each client to meet their needs. Seeing everything come together on the wedding day is the main joy Jackie gets from her career. She always feels proud to have played a role in the best day of their lives.

What is Jackie’s main quality she looks for in preferred vendors? Reliability!! She said she always knows Split Second Sound is going to bring the right equipment, be on time, have extra equipment and backups, and go above & beyond. She believes sticking to the timeline for the best flow is crucial when working with a large team of vendors.

Jackie is always the smiling face in the crowd and down for anything new & exciting, but believes in not pushing her clients to go outside of their budget or stray too far from their desired aesthetic. She works in the scope of their budget and logistics and will always be honest telling them what will or will not work. Aside from her attention to detail and organization, Jackie can truly get along with all kinds of people.

Home weddings are Jackie’s favorites to be a part of. She believes having a wedding at a private residence makes the entire day more intimate. There is a lot more work on the front end though as she is literally transforming someone’s home into a venue. Wedding planners can have control of it all, but one thing there is no way to master...weather! Jackie remembers one wedding she planned where weather was against them, but they did not let it “rain on their parade”! Ceremony was outside, it was beautiful day, and then the rain came. They had tents on the property in preparation, but the rain managed to flow into the tent. Guests made the most of it by splashing around and having a blast. Jackie said, “The pictures came out gorgeous!”

There is no “supposed to do” in Jackie’s wedding planning vocabulary. Instead by making the entire experience about what the bride and groom want the wedding to be, the stress goes away and the fun begins. Of course there are still tasks that need to be done for a good flow, but the wedding should reflect on the couple. Jackie is not into “generic weddings” - Special touches go a long way.

In this industry, you can get creative with your special day but when you hire someone that owns their own business, they have a passion for it and will give you 110% as it is truly their life. Jackie is living proof of this and we could not be more proud to have her as a supporter and friend to our company!

DJ Feature - Chris Pounds

While all of SSS MC/DJs are exclusive, Chris Pounds is also our full-time DJ, so we are sure you have seen his face around at many of our events! When first moving to Charlotte, he DJ’d at the same club every Friday for 3 months knowing every song that would be played after the next, after the next. That situation was not allowing Chris to take his craft to the next limit, which led him to inquiring with Split Second. Although his mixing was top notch, he still completed our training process to learn how to run a wedding, master his coordination & interaction, and truly learn the SSS way and understand the SSS brand. Chris’ love for spinning started at a gymnasium party 30 years ago. He saw a friend on the turntables, began learning the fundamentals of spinning & creating music, and started his official DJ career in his early 20s. He puts high emphasis on himself on how to not just get guests on the dance floor, but keep them there all night. He pushes himself to entertain by
